We also have scanning facilities and printing available for a small charge of 20p per black and white A4 print and 65p per colour A4 print. As well as computers with free internet access, you can also find access to many online reference resources including Ancestry Library Edition. Many of these are available 24/7 from any device with an internet connection but there are some services that are only available on library computers because of licensing restrictions. It’s easy – you can book a 2-hr session in an activeIT centre up to a week in advance, either in person, by phone or 24/7 or online. If you’re not a library member, you can join on the spot, subject to evidence of identity – ask for details. Library members can book computer sessions for up to three hours per session at the Library of Birmingham or up to two hours per session at community libraries.
Children (members and non-members) can visit filtered websites, free of charge. Search for the ‘Library’ wi-fi network, then read and indiancultureonline.com accept the terms and conditions. The following document will assist with how to print from your smartphone, laptop or tablet.
We want to reduce the digital divide within local communities which allows customers the opportunity to apply to borrow a Chromebook or a tablet from libraries for 12 weeks. Additionally, there will be the offer of digital skills training provided by libraries or Leicester Adult Education. The WiFi service is free and easy to use and is available in all our libraries. Most personal devices are supported, including laptops, iPads, smartphones, and e-Readers. We also provide 24/7 WiFi coverage in Town Hall Square. It is your responsibility to protect your own WiFi device from viruses and malware.
