Mental Disorders That Appear in Adolescence

Mental Disorders- Adolescents are the group of individuals who are most vulnerable to mental disorders.

Factors that can cause stress during adolescence include a desire to be more independent and pressure to adjust to peers, and increased access to and use of technology.

Other determinants include household conditions and sexual violence that young people are prone to. So, what types of mental disorders are teenagers prone to? Here’s an example.

Types of Mental Disorders Adolescents Are Vulnerable to

Launching from the WHO, the following types of mental disorders are susceptible to being experienced by adolescents:

Emotional disorders generally appear in adolescence. In addition to depression or anxiety, adolescents with emotional disorders may experience irritability, frustration, or excessive anger. In addition to psychological symptoms, emotional disorders can also cause physical symptoms, such as stomach pain, headaches, or nausea. Emotional disorders can greatly affect performance in school. If not treated immediately, adolescents with emotional disorders can experience worse symptoms, such as isolating themselves to having suicidal thoughts.

Behavioral Problems

Behavioral problems in childhood are the second leading cause of mental disorders in adolescents. Then, Behavioral disorders in childhood for example ADHD are characterized by difficulty focusing, and behavioral disorders are characterized by destructive or challenging behavior. There are a number of risk factors that trigger suicidal behavior in adolescents. For example, harmful alcohol use, childhood abuse, and barriers to accessing mental care. In addition, social media is also now the biggest cause of suicide in teenagers. The reason is, that social media can demand many things from teenagers, such as self-image and life that tends to be consumptive.
